The World As I Know It
I am an Aussie male. married with four grown-up children. My wife Kathleen and I live on a forty acre property in the South Burnett region of South East Queensland, Australia.
Before deciding to devote most of my spare time to writing I was employed for 17 years in various clerical positions with Queensland Railways, followed by ten years with Central Queensland University where I worked in library administration.
More recently I have worked as Secretary/Office Administrator for a not for profit community organisation called Bush Family Connections, as Secretary and an active fire fighter for my local Rural Fire Brigade, and Secretary/Treasurer for Hope Bears Charity (Queensland branch).
I am passionate about caring for the land, organic gardening, the environment, and nature in general and studied and obtained a diploma in Permaculture Design to help me do this.
From a young age I was always interested in art especially sketching and drawing. My first desire was to become a commercial artist but with the introduction of computers and digital art that fell by the wayside and made way for my other interest of writing to take over. I have always enjoyed writing poetry and now and then the occasional article for the "letters to the editor" section of a newspaper etc. Only in the last couple of years have I begun to take my writing seriously since joining a wonderful online writing site called "Hub Pages."
Recently I have been hired to write the rhyming test for a children' picture book, the prose text for another children's picture book, and had a short story "Just a Humble Hero" selected for publication in an anthology journal.
